Stone Mountain
Commemorative Half Dollar

21542764

Details

PCGS Designation: 9873

Certificate: 21542764

Grade: MS65

Obverse Die: Normal Die

Reverse Die: Doubled H

Stars: 13/35

Notes:  This is a coin that we think might rate much high as it is distinguished by its lack of features and is well struck.  The reverse shows all 35 stars and is cleanly struck throughout.  The only features are very interesting and hopefully not unique as we move toward die identifications.  There is a doubling of the H in HALF below the crossbar, and a fine die gouge in the eagle's left wing-neck gap.

The obverse is featureless as to the die and strike, but does have some eye appeal with the early toning.  The color has an opalescent quality which makes it even more attractive in the right light.

There is much less flattening of the reverse rim lettering which adds to the eye appeal without the viewer realizing the reason.  The rim lettering on the obverse has flattened slightly, which is a little unusual.
