Stone Mountain
Commemorative Half Dollar

29801610

Details

PCGS Designation: 9873

Certificate: 29801610

Grade: MS64

Obverse Die:

Reverse Die: Doubled HA

Stars: 13/29

Notes:  The photographs make this coin look better than it actually looks when held.  The die is starting to deteriorate and some of the detail is not as clean and crisp as the pictures appear.  The front of Little Sorrel's head is doubled toward the rim.

However, the reverse is well struck around the eagle's wings and the discoloration makes the feathers more pronounced.

The die crack through Lee's hat and the second star is very clear and tells that this is not the FS-101 variety.  On the reverse the die crack that goes from F to R is not well developed along the whole crack.  The die cracks on the eagle's head follow similar patterns to what we have seen elsewhere.

Almost all the letters in HALF DOLLAR show some signs of doubling with the HA being the easiest to see in photographs.
