Obverse Die: Normal Die

Reverse Die: Doubled F DO

Stars: 13/23

Notes:  The toning on this coin is attractive, especially on the obverse.  But there is some discoloration on the reverse that hurts the eye appeal.  We take the "junk" in AM above the eagle's left wing to be die grease and some carbon spots.  Then there is more discoloration across the top and bottom of the reverse that looks to be a production and not post production issue.  Perhaps this is also related to grease on the die when struck.

There is some very minor doubling on the reverse in the first line of the memorial.  But there is some doubling and tripling of the letters F DO at the bottom of the reverse.  At the eagle's head there is a significant amount of polishing that shows as lines below and to the left of the beak.

The obverse also is attractively toned, but with eye appeal issues.  There is major discoloration in Traveler's neck area that could be production issues.  There is also a small line in the top of the loop of the 9 in the date that we believe will prove to be an over date punch.  But it is not strong enough on this coin to prove.

There are no die cracks on either the obverse nor the reverse.
