Commemorative Half Dollar
PCGS Designation: 9873
Obverse Die: Normal Die
Reverse Die: Normal Die
Notes: This is a coin where identification of features is difficult because of the heavy discoloration. There is a temptation to see things that you know might be present because you see them on other coins so often.
The star count we limited to what can be seen in photographs, and could have stretched it to the full 33 stars if we wanted to count very faint impressions of partial stars. There is a die crack in Traveler's head and on the reverse fewer die cracks than normal.
The NE in STONE MOUNTAIN is faintly doubled, and the 25 in the date is also doubled. The date doubling is more evident, but neither would rise to the level of the FS-101 variety.
