Notes:  This coin is just an average AU 55 with nothing special other than a good study.  It was apparently well struck with most of the reverse stars still visible at this state.

What we thought was just some dirt on the upper portion of the reverse is a little more interesting.  It would appear that the die became heavily pitted and the coin was struck with a very uneven surface.  This allowed dirt to accumulate in the pitted areas giving the coin a dirty appearance.

Only minor die cracks are visible on the obverse and we would have problems identifying any on the reverse with certainty because of the pitting.
