Details

PCGS Designation: 9873

Certificate: 38218120

Grade: AU58

Obverse Die: Double Die Obverse FS-101

Reverse Die: Normal Die

Stars: 13/35

Notes:  This is a well struck coin with most of the reverse detail in good shape.  There is wear, but not more than the grade.

The coin gets some style points because PCGS certified it as an FS-101, but is it?  The 925 are clearly doubled and the 1 could be but it got a little squished in circulation.  The STONE MOUNTAIN is also doubled alone the bottom edge, but not completely.

Then there are the telltale die cracks.
The die cracks have mostly worn away, except for Lee's hat.  There the die crack comes off the front brim at the wrong angle.  So is this a different die state or a different die?

There is a doubling of the head of Little Sorrel, but this is present on the FS-101 and others.
