Commemorative Half Dollar
PCGS Designation: 9873
Obverse Die: Double Die Obverse FS-101
Reverse Die: Normal Die
Notes: This is a coin that we will resubmit to see if PCGS will classify it as an FS-101 Double Die. Looking at the obverse die cracks we don't think it is the same die. But technically it fits the description since it has strong doubling of the date and STONE MOUNTAIN.
There is another confirmation of the die doubling on the head of Little Sorrel.
The reverse die cracks are not unusual and follow the familiar pattern along the eagle's left wing. They skip around a little but this could be die state and not something new.
On both the obverse and reverse there is some slight cud beginning to show at the rims indicating die wear and headed toward failure.
